Car trackers for a Peugeot: built-in tracking and theft risk for the 2008, 3008 and Landtrek
Peugeot has no built-in live tracking in South Africa. Its free MyPeugeot app can help you “find your vehicle thanks to the automatic recording of its last position”, which is where it was parked, not where it is now.1 The 2008 lists a “Tracking Solution” only as an option, without naming the company or the cost.2
Checked on 27 October 2026 against Peugeot South Africa’s MyPeugeot and Assistance pages and the specification sheets for the 2008 and Landtrek.
Does Peugeot have built-in tracking?
Not the live kind. Peugeot South Africa says the MyPeugeot app is “available free of charge on iOS and Android” and lets you “stay connected to your vehicle in all circumstances”. Its location feature is: “Easily find your vehicle thanks to the automatic recording of its last position.” The rest is fuel and driving statistics, the maintenance log and bookings, documents, and roadside help that lets you “follow the arrival of the tow truck in real time”.1
The Peugeot Assistance page describes the same feature as “automatic memorisation of your parking location”, and its 24-hour service is roadside assistance for the warranty period, “5 years or 100 000 km which ever occurs first”.5 We found no Peugeot page offering live location, a geofence, remote immobilising or a control room for stolen cars. The app’s services for plug-in hybrids and electric cars are “Not yet available in South Africa”.1
The 2008’s optional tracking solution
The 2008’s May 2025 specification sheet lists, among its ownership benefits, the MyPeugeot app, a “24-Hour Customer Contact Centre”, “Microdots: Quick and easy identification in the event of theft”, and “Safety Film and Tracking Solution (Optional)”.2 It doesn’t say who supplies the tracking, what it costs, whether a control room and recovery team come with it, or whether insurers accept it. Ask the dealer for those details in writing before you choose it, and compare them with other quotes.
Are Peugeots targeted in South Africa?
Not on any list we found. None of the 2025 and 2026 lists and reports in our research, more than 20 of them with Fidelity ADT’s, King Price’s, AutoTrader’s and MasterDrive’s among them, names a Peugeot. Nor did we find a report of how Peugeots are stolen here.6,7,8,9
Peugeot 2008
The 2008 comes as the Allure 1.2 automatic and the GT 1.2 automatic. Both have push-button start, an anti-theft alarm and immobiliser, remote central locking and speed-sensing door locks; the sheet has no keyless-entry row.2 Its i-Connect infotainment gets “regular remote updates”, and connected 3D navigation is “Available as an option on all levels”, but neither is a way to trace the car.10
Peugeot Landtrek
The Landtrek’s August 2026 sheet lists seven grades, from the 1.9D Professional single cab to the 2.2D 4Action 4x4 double cab. Every one has an anti-theft alarm and immobiliser and remote central locking. Connectivity is Bluetooth, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on the Allure and 4Action (wireless on the 2.2D), and the sheet mentions neither MyPeugeot nor the optional tracking solution. Keyless entry and push-button start aren’t listed.3
So a Landtrek tracker is one you fit. If the bakkie works for a business, choose Business in the form for a fleet quote.
Peugeot 3008
The 3008 isn’t in Peugeot South Africa’s model menu; the site’s model pages cover only the 2008, the Landtrek and the Partner.11 An offers page remains, listing a “3008 ALLURE PACK” at R7 980 a month with a “Retail Price: R536 562” and a “3008 ACTIVE PACK” at R7 246 a month, but with no specification sheet we can’t say what security it has.4
What to fit to a Peugeot
A tracker with a recovery service, kept in working order. Where an insurer requires one, the conditions can be strict: MiWay’s policy wording says that for theft and hijack cover, “I install the required devices within the specific time period”, the device “is always in full working condition”, and the tracking company is told “immediately”.12
Our deals start from R99pm for a wireless recovery unit, or R149pm for a full insurance-approved tracker. Free installation, 36-month contract.

Is the Peugeot 3008 still sold in South Africa?
It isn’t in Peugeot South Africa’s model menu, though an offers page for it remains. The current model pages cover the 2008, Landtrek and Partner.
