Car trackers for a Porsche: built-in tracking for the Cayenne and Macan
Partly. Porsche’s built-in tracking in South Africa is Porsche Connect, run through the My Porsche app, and its local store offers it for the 911, Taycan, Panamera and Cayenne. On the Cayenne it can find the car, tell you when the alarm registers “external access”, and warn you when the car leaves an area you set.1,2 But Porsche lists no stolen-vehicle recovery here, its Vehicle Tracking System isn’t in the South African store, and the Macan isn’t covered.1,3
Checked on 27 October 2026 against Porsche’s South African Connect Store and Porsche South Africa’s Macan page.

|---|---|---|
| 911 | Yes1 | 992 II, 2026 and 2027 model years |
| Taycan | Yes1 | J1 II, 2026 and 2027 model years |
| Panamera | Yes1 | G3, 2026 and 2027 model years |
| Cayenne | Yes, with 10 years included1,2 | E3 II, 2026 and 2027; not the older E3, the E2 II or the electric E4 |
| Macan | No1 | None of the four Macan versions in the store’s lists |
Which Porsches have built-in tracking?
The ones in the table. Porsche’s South African Connect Store offers its services for four model lines: the 911 (992 II), the Taycan (J1 II), the Panamera (G3) and the Cayenne (E3 II), each with its 2026 and 2027 model years.1 There are two packages, Porsche Connect and Porsche Connect Care, and you control both through the My Porsche app.2
For the Cayenne, the store sells them through Porsche Middle East and Africa FZE, with the car’s data link provided by Cubic Telecom, and says “No separate costs are charged for the provision of connectivity”. The services come with 10 years included, and Porsche says the included period “ends automatically so that you do not incur any costs”. If you carry on after that, the term is “1 month (with automatic renewal)”, with 20 business days’ notice to end it.2
Is the Porsche Vehicle Tracking System sold in South Africa?
Not through Porsche’s local store. The Porsche Vehicle Tracking System, or PVTS, isn’t among the products in the South African Porsche Connect Store.1 What the store does sell is not a recovery service. Connect Care on the Cayenne includes a Breakdown Call to Porsche Assistance, and Porsche notes that “the Emergency Call service is an exception and is active without activating Porsche Connect Care”. Nothing in it sends anyone after a stolen car.3
We also found no insurer that accepts Porsche Connect as an approved tracker, so read your policy schedule to see what it asks for.
Porsche Cayenne
Three Cayennes are in the South African store: the E3 II and its 2026 and 2027 versions. The older E3, the E2 II and the Cayenne electric (E4) are not.1
On an E3 II, Porsche Connect’s remote services include Car Finder; a Location Alarm, where you “Set where your Porsche is allowed to drive. If your defined area is exceeded, you will receive a message”; speed and valet alarms; and a Car Alarm that sends “a notification as soon as the alarm system of your vehicle registers external access”. Lock & Unlock answers the question “Are doors and windows really closed?” on your phone, and Porsche says that “Various services allow you to check vehicle data, location and lots more besides, remotely.”2 Connect Care adds the app, the Breakdown Call, online software updates and the Driver’s Manual, “free of charge for 10 years”.3
The 2027 Cayenne’s page puts it more simply: “you can remotely open and lock your Porsche, pre-set the interior temperature and view tyre pressure”. It also needs a 4G or 5G NSA network to work.4 We found no published keyless or immobiliser details for any of them, and no list or report that names the Cayenne as a target.
Porsche Macan
The Macan has no Porsche Connect in South Africa that we could find. The local store doesn’t list it, and the store’s own country lists for the Macan 2018, the Macan, the Macan electric and the Macan electric (2026) all leave South Africa out.1 Porsche South Africa’s Macan page shows no security equipment either.5
So nothing from Porsche will tell you where a Macan is. We found no theft figures or lists naming it, but if one is taken, a fitted tracker is what can lead a recovery team to it.
Are Porsches stolen in South Africa?
They are taken, though no source we found ranks a Porsche model. In August 2026 The Citizen reported a JMPD operation against a suspect “accused of stealing high-value vehicles, including a Porsche, and trafficking them across the South African border”. A forensic check “confirmed the vehicle had been reported stolen under a Midrand Saps case”. The report doesn’t say which model it was.6
Our guide to vehicles moved across borders covers what happens once a stolen car leaves the country.
What to fit to a Porsche
Porsche Connect is worth keeping for the alerts, but put a tracker with a recovery team beside it, and check your schedule before you choose one. King Price’s policy shows what is at stake: “You won’t have theft and hi-jack cover if the required tracking device isn’t installed or isn’t in proper working condition as per the manufacturer’s specifications.”7
Our deals start from R99pm for a wireless recovery unit, or R149pm for a full insurance-approved tracker. Free installation, 36-month contract.

Questions people ask
Does Porsche put trackers on their cars?
Not stolen-vehicle trackers, in South Africa. Porsche Connect is offered here for the 911, Taycan, Panamera and Cayenne, and on the Cayenne it can locate the car and send alarm and area alerts to the My Porsche app. Porsche lists no recovery service, and its Vehicle Tracking System is not in the local store.
Can you track a Porsche?
An E3 II Cayenne, including the 2026 and 2027 models, can be found through Car Finder in the My Porsche app. A Macan, or a Cayenne older than the E3 II, has no Porsche Connect in South Africa, so only a fitted tracker can show where it is.
Is the Porsche Vehicle Tracking System available in South Africa?
Not that Porsche publishes. PVTS is not among the products in the South African Porsche Connect Store, which offers only Porsche Connect and Porsche Connect Care. To have a stolen car followed and recovered, you need a tracker with a recovery service.
Does the Porsche Cayenne have a tracker?
It has Porsche Connect, with Car Finder, a Location Alarm and a Car Alarm alert, included for 10 years on the E3 II. That tells you where the car is and when someone gets into it, but Porsche lists no team to recover it, so fit a tracker as well if your insurer asks for one.
