1. Who we are

trackingdeals.co.za is a trade name of OneCompare (Pty) Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”). OneCompare (Pty) Ltd is the responsible party for the personal information collected through this website, under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”). Our physical address is 377 Rivonia Boulevard, Rivonia, Johannesburg, Gauteng 2191, South Africa.

This policy covers the personal information we obtain through this website, its quote form, WhatsApp, email and telephone conversations with us, and any other way you deal with us about a vehicle tracker or dashcam.

2. What we do

We help you compare vehicle tracker and dashcam deals and arrange the one you choose. The tracking or dashcam company you choose supplies and installs the device, and your contract for it is with that company. We pass on the information it needs to quote you, contract with you and install the device.

3. The personal information we collect

  • Your name, cellphone number and email address, and for a business, the company name and the contact person’s details.
  • Your identity or passport number, where the tracking company needs it for the contract.
  • The installation address, or a note that the vehicle is at a dealership.
  • Each vehicle’s make, model, year and use, and for a fleet, the number of vehicles.
  • The device and plan you choose, and any extras.
  • Your banking details for the debit order, where you choose to complete your contract on the form. These go only to the company whose contract you are signing.
  • Emergency contacts you choose to give, with their permission.
  • What you tell us in messages, emails and calls.
  • Technical information such as your IP address, browser and the pages you visit (section 9).

4. Why we use it

We use your personal information only for these purposes, in line with section 11 of POPIA:

  • to give you tracker and dashcam prices and arrange the deal you choose;
  • to send your details to the tracking or dashcam company so it can contract with you and install the device;
  • to contact you about your quote, your contract and your installation;
  • to answer your questions and complaints;
  • to keep records the law requires, and to detect and prevent fraud and abuse of the form;
  • to understand how the website is used, so we can improve it.

5. Direct marketing

We do not send you marketing by email, SMS or WhatsApp without your consent, except about products similar to the one you asked us about, and you can opt out of that at any time, free of charge, by replying to the message or emailing legal@onecompare.co.za. We do not sell your personal information.

6. Who we share it with

  • The tracking or dashcam company you choose, with the information it needs to quote, contract and install.
  • Operators who work for us, such as our hosting, database, email and spam-protection providers. They may use your information only on our instructions and must keep it secure.
  • Regulators, courts and law enforcement, where the law requires it.
  • Our auditors and lawyers, under professional confidentiality.

7. Information sent outside South Africa

Some of our operators, such as our hosting and email providers, are based outside South Africa. We send personal information across the border only as section 72 of POPIA allows: where the recipient is bound by law, rules or an agreement that protects it as well as POPIA does, where you consent, or where it is needed for a contract with you or in your interest.

8. How we keep it safe

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information, as section 19 of POPIA requires: encryption in transit, access limited to the people who need it, logging of access, and confidentiality undertakings. No system is perfectly secure; if your information is compromised, we will tell you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

9. Cookies and similar technologies

The quote form keeps your answers in your own browser while you fill it in, so they are not lost if the page reloads. A spam-protection check on the form confirms that a person, not a bot, is sending it. We do not use advertising cookies or advertising pixels on this website. We count visits to the site with Vercel Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and does not identify you: it records which pages are viewed, the site a visitor came from, and the type of device, browser and country. You can clear or block cookies and stored data in your browser settings; the form still works, but your answers will not be kept between visits.

10. How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires, and then delete it or remove anything that identifies you. Records of your quote and contract are kept for five years after our last contact with you, unless the law requires longer.

11. Your rights

Under POPIA you may:

  • ask whether we hold your personal information, and for a copy of it and who we have shared it with;
  • ask us to correct or delete information that is wrong, out of date, excessive or unlawfully obtained;
  • object to how we use it, and to direct marketing;
  • complain to the Information Regulator.

Email legal@onecompare.co.za to use any of these rights. There is no charge, although a reasonable fee may apply to a copy of records requested under the Promotion of Access to Information Act, 2000.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The current version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top. If a change is material, we will tell you clearly on the website or directly.
